How to Survive the Water Crisis in Malaysia

Water rationing in Malaysia

Have you experienced the water rationing in Malaysia? The affected areas are only the capital city Kuala Lumpur and and Selangor areas but those places are where the highest percentage of the Malaysian population resides.

According to the National Water Commission (SPAN), an additional 620,237 households will be affected under Phase 4 of the exercise, bringing the total number affected to 1,340,231 households.

A lot of people are affected by the water rationing – People are going to clubhouses to shower, and many malls are running now on water bottles as they are also being sold like hot cakes.
Water is essential for the body and even with the water crisis going on, the KAMIRA Event Management team hopes you keep yourself hydrated! Here’s some tips on how.

1) take shorter showers
We know that our country is hot and that taking a long cool shower is nice but in dire times like these, try to bathe faster – You’ll save more water

2) Limit your car washing habits
Its not only hot here in Malaysia but also dusty at times so our cars will no doubt get dirty. Because of this, most Malaysians like to wash their cars at least once a week and washing uses a lot of water. So until the crisis is fixed, try not to wash the car unless it really is dirty.

3) Looking for leaks
73% of houses have leaks that they didn’t even know of! Leaving the leaks to go on will make you lose more water so if you have time, try to look around your house, your kitchen or your bathroom for leaks.
